The Meadowlark Nest.

“The child has a different relation to his environment from ours…the child absorbs it.  The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul.  He incarnates in himself all in the world about him that his eyes see and his ears hear… the child is transformed by them.” -Maria Montessori

Our infant classroom is specifically designed for children from eight weeks to 18 months. In our infant program, children are not restricted to infant equipment seats but are allowed to move safely with furniture that is low to the ground and appropriate for the size of the child. Activities are set up for individual children to discover spatial concepts, learn language, solve simple problems, develop muscle control, and learn self-care skills.

We recognize an infant’s ability to communicate their needs; freedom to move their body; and their unique role in our community. We observe and honor your infant’s sleeping and eating patterns as they follow the natural rhythm of a predictable day. Our infant room maintains a ratio of seven children to two adults, which allows for this truly individualized approach.

Our infant environment overlooks a green space. The wind blowing through the trees and birds chirping can often be heard. The children have the freedom to climb up the stairs to watch nature’s rhythm.
